Embrace Your Natural White Bits This Summer :)

Instead of bombarding you with facts or figures, the benefits and the statistics on this product I wanted to change it slightly.

Growing up plastering on the fake tan, patchy knuckles, sitting out until I burnt being called an English rose was not a compliment, I wanted a tan!

So after finally sitting in the sun constantly for a week in Tenerife experiencing the worst prickly heat, I finally went sun kissed – this lasted one week if that!!!

I know what your thinking – I gave in – NO

A few years back I went to Barcelona with my three friends and thinking I am invincible against the sun I did not put the cream on soon enough. BIG MISTAKE!!

Night time came and I had severely burnt my right leg and have not had pain like it.

The next day I couldn’t walk on it and although I had an amazing trip by the time I arrived home I was straight to my GP having it dressed. NEVER AGAIN!!

If you are fair skinned embrace the sun protection and even if you are lucky enough to tan beautifully still protect your wonderful skin!

The ZO® range have a variety of sun protection and the sunscreen and primer is a perfect holiday essential as this provides a slight bit of colour so little to no make up is needed and you are protecting your skin at the same time.

Sharne’s ZO Skin Health and Stimulator Peel Experience

Here I am again, new day new treatment! What a lucky girl!

On Tuesday I experienced my first ever facial peel. As you may have seen through recent posts we have been very excited about the ZO skin health system which is by Dr Zein Obaji whose philosophy is to create and maintain healthy skin for life.

Since my teenage years I have always been interested in skin care and make up and have always dipped in to different skincare systems from Clarins, Dermalogica, Elemis and often mixed the systems never sticking to a solid routine.

When ZO was first introduced to the clinic I was given the daily skincare programme which I loved! It was great as this gives you all the products you need to begin your new routine, you have in this the exfoliating cleanser, exfoliating polish (My personal favourite!), complexion renewal pads and the daily power defence. This is all you need to start your skin care journey and after just two days I noticed such a difference in my skin, it felt smooth, fresh and my make up sat so much nicer on the skin as opposed to patchiness or uneven tones.

This Tuesday I then was given the opportunity to have a stimulator peel by Liza, our new Well-Being Assistant.

First of all, Liza removed my make up whilst looking at my skin and discussed the areas that concern me the most and my skincare history. For me areas of concern are my chin as I tend to get clogged pores and breakouts and dark circles under my eyes. I felt completely at ease and it was lovely to talk about my skin and not feel conscious. Liza explained the chin area seems to be hormonal and the circles are hereditary but both can be made better reduced and helped with a solid routine. After my make-up was removed I then had the facial which was a variety of cleansers and exfoliators to prep the skin.

Next came the peel, this was applied in two stages and although this started to tingle it was not uncomfortable or painful in any way. Liza was great in ensuring I was comfortable at all times and was great in explaining what I was likely to experience with the treatment.

Once the peel had been applied the second time this was removed and a mask placed on, this felt lovely and soothing and a perfect finish to the peel.

The entire treatment was very relaxing, enjoyable and my skin was left feeling incredible.

I would highly recommend this treatment to anyone and I can’t wait to continue with a great new skin care programme.

Until next time…

Orthodontic Retention – Why is it so important?

After orthodontic treatment retention is vital and your teeth take a while to adjust to their new position so whether you have had a fixed appliance or a removable appliance wearing retainers is the key to keeping your newly improved smile.

Following my recent six-month smile treatment, I decided to invest in Vivera® retainers.

So why would I recommend Vivera® retainers?

Although lab made retainers are great (I had no problem with mine) Vivera®  retainers are more of a long term option. You get three sets and they are made of a stronger material which not only ensures the teeth stay in position they also have less chance of cracking or breaking which is crucial in the first few months as these are worn for 22 hours a day!!

These retainers are custom made by taking a digital scan of the teeth and sending the scan data electronically to Align who manufacture the retainers via an automatic process. Using this digital pathway means no more messy impressions, quality of scan data ensuring accuracy and speed! There is a much quicker turnaround time.

I have had only three days of wearing mine and I love them, I actually feel alien when I don’t have them in.

After a long treatment to me they were the perfect investment.

Sharne’s Six Month Smile Journey – THE FINALE!!

I think the phrase “it will all be worth it in the end” is something that’s used a lot and although it seems a little cliché it could not be truer.

When I started my Six Month Smile Journey back in July 2017 I was unsure if I would like the look of my teeth whilst wearing the brace, if I would be comfortable wearing them, how much it would affect my time wearing them and trying to imagine the end result.

There is no guarantee and the risks were ones I was fully aware of with such overcrowding.

Alison is an inspirational clinician and having her carry out the whole process made me one hundred percent at ease and excited .We knew this would be a case that looked worse before it looked better.

I think the result surprised us all and the time it took was also a shock thinking it would be longer than the usual. So, Friday 12th January 2018 I had my braces removed and I then had retainers made to keep my teeth in place. I love my new smile and my retainers are so comfy I will be wearing them to keep my teeth in the same position.

Sadly, my Six Month Smile Journey has come to an end and this is my last blog. I hope I have helped anyone who may be contemplating adult orthodontics after all……….

……………It begins with a smile 🙂

Sharne’s Six Month Smile Blog – Final Adjustments Week 24 (Start Date 27.7.2017)

Today I had my final adjustments for my six months smile journey. I am so pleased with the results; my goal was to have my lower teeth straight and in line and the fact this has been achieved with not much interproximal reduction or any extractions is simply unbelievable. There was NO room!!

So here is my tooth journey so far,

When I was at primary school I fell over and fractured my front adult tooth (devastation!)

When I reached secondary school, I was old enough to have a porcelain bonded crown at the front which at the time compared to the temporary I had was brilliant. While this was being made I had to attend school with what I can best describe as Mr Chips (Catchphrase) at the front of my mouth. I was so upset.

I eventually had my crown fitted and all was fine, however I was always very conscious of my smile and it’s the first thing I would be drawn to in any photographs being taken.

Since being at Trinity I carried out the Enlighten whitening which was brilliant and Alison then replaced my crown with a ceramic crown. This made such a difference to me and I completely lost all worries of it being noticeable in pictures.

I am now coming to the end of my six-month smiles treatment in which I will then go on to wearing retainers.

Next week I will turn 28 and I couldn’t be happier to entering my birthday with the smile id always hoped for!!

Sharne’s Six Month Smile Journey – Part 2 (Weeks 3-6)

“The quality of persisting at something and undeterred by drawbacks and setbacks”

This is now my sixth week of my Six Month’s Smile treatment and MY TEETH ARE MOVING!!!!

Since my previous blog I have experienced different stages of the procedure and I am pleased to say sore gums no more! As I may have already explained, during my first couple of weeks my gums were very tender and I needed to use wax to cover the brackets and create a barrier. I now no longer need to apply the wax and it makes my brushing routine a lot easier.

I have started to notice my lower teeth moving and it can be a strange sensation as you can feel them become slightly mobile however it is very exciting to see them shifting and this is only after six weeks.

I decided in this blog to start with a quote as I am a quote queen and I strongly believe that persevering is the key to everything!

Keep you posted again soon!

Determined Sharne!

My Enlighten Whitening Journey Part 1.

I could not wait to start my Enlighten treatment, this is a treatment I did not think I would ever carry out due to me having a porcelain crown at the front.

You can imagine the excitement when Ali told me this would be no problem; it would just be a case of replacing the crown with a Cerec® crown once completing the whitening process.

Once my custom fitted trays arrived it was time to start,

Night one:
At first I found the trays hard to adjust to, I assumed I would get no sleep with constantly fidgeting about with the trays in my mouth. Naturally the mouth produces more saliva and I thought this would be the case for the entire wearing time however this soon calmed down as my mouth adapted to having the trays in.
After around half an hour they soon became the normal and I slept without a peep.

Waking up in the morning I removed the trays and cleaned them with water and hand soap ready to use again. I immediately looked to see if they had made a difference however after one night the results were the same. As you can tell I was a bit impatient!!

From day three I felt some slight sensitivity in the morning when removing the trays however this was not uncomfortable and it did not last for the entire day.

I have now completed my seven days of the 10% syringe and am ready to start my next stage. I am really pleased with the results so far and have started to notice a change in colour. After a week of wearing, it has just become part of my bedtime routine and I have no discomfort at all.
Until next time!

Lauren with Ducky

This week has been so refreshing, to finally say goodbye to the rain coats but for me it’s not just myself and my toy poodle Dottie that enjoys soaking up the rays

It’s also our beautiful duck and ducklings!

Laurens Ducks

It so important to make sure our pets are kept hydrated in this heat and so this was a perfect opportunity to splash around and get the paddling pools out! The ducks love to paddle in the shallow water and they have a fond appetite for ants!!!

Then there’s my little Dottie she loves ice cubes with her water, she’s a playful loving pup and laps up all attention from me, my mum, Andy and my niece Tahlia. Like any pup she loves to get up to mischief and pinch my socks. Let’s hope I have some left for the winter!!!

Until next time……

The yearly clear out!

I have been dreading the annual clear out of the attic and the sorting of carboot, charity and tip piles!

But I could not put this off any longer! Friday evenings are always the best there is just one more day at work and then it’s the weekend of family events and seeing those nephews and nieces of mine but this weekend was a different one, this weekend was for me to face sorting out all the clothes that are no longer fitting, splashed with paint, or simply have been pushed aside for that new jumper or top!

Getting stuck in was far more satisfying than I imagined with a cup of tea in one hand, a piece of cake at the ready and carrie underwood blasting through my ipad I meant business.

Finally finishing 2 hours later and having the boxes ready to take to the carboot sale I was relieved.

Now I can only hope the weather holds out! Wish me luck! (Until next year)!!
