As childhood is such an important period of time in a person's dental history we know how important it is to get dental care right from the start. Although children will lose their 'milk' teeth it's still incredibly important to look after those first teeth. Milk teeth help children speak more easily and chew food correctly. They also maintain the space for a permanent set of teeth to follow.
At Trinity Dental we encourage parents and carers to bring children from birth to get them used to the clinic surroundings they wouldn't need full examinations until they have teeth so we suggest you bring them along to your own dental examinations to give them a gentle introduction to visiting the dentist. It also helps to see how relaxed Mummy or Daddy are when they have their teeth checked.
It's important to encourage your child to brush at least twice a day, after breakfast and before bed, however it's great to get children into the habit of brushing after every meal. If you're the parent of a young child we recommend that you supervise and support your child's teeth brushing so that they learn how to clean their teeth properly themselves. Though it can still be worth parents doing a final brush to make sure hard to reach teeth are also cleaned. To help you and your child develop the best dental routine we can offer advice on important factors such as the correct toothpaste and toothbrush, the best brushing techniques and healthy eating habits.
Your child's first appointment is all about understanding their dental health and helping parents learn how best to help children achieve good oral health. It's worth noting that we'll discuss your child's dental habits and medical history at their initial appointment
