Keeping your teeth clean this Christmas!

The holiday season is now here with Christmas and new year, bringing joy, warmth, and of course delicious and undeniable treats. However, it is still important that you try to make oral health a priority to ensure that you keep a bright and healthy smile. So, we are going to give you some tips on how to keep your teeth clean while enjoying all of your favourite Christmas treats!

brushing your teeth

1. Maintain your oral hygiene routine.

The business and excitement of the holidays may disrupt your regular schedules and routines, but don’t let it get in the way of good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss regularly and rinse between meals.

2. Choose tooth friendly snacks.

Try and opt for more tooth-friendly snacks when indulging in your treats this Christmas, fresh fruit and veg can help neutralise acids in your mouth. Too many sweet, sticky treats may lead to cavities and more regular visits to us!

3. Stay hydrated.

Staying hydrated all year round is important, but especially at Christmas. Drinking lots of water helps food particles wash away and reduces bacteria in your mouth. Less bacteria, less decay, and less visits to us!

4. Mouthwash.

Include mouthwash in your oral hygiene (click here to view our Dental Hygenists for advice) this Christmas, mouthwash works best between meals and before you brush to wash away food debris and bacteria that may still be present. Just swish it around your mouth for 30 seconds and then spit it out. Its as easy as that.

5. Don’t forget your check-up.

Check ups are important and necessary to ensure everything is going smoothly. Check ups after the busy holiday season can ensure that your teeth are in perfect shape. Dentists and hygienists can also remove plaque and decay that you may not be able to see or access while brushing.

As you celebrate the magic of Christmas with family and friends, remember to prioritize your oral health. By maintaining a consistent oral care routine, making mindful food choices, and staying hydrated, you can enjoy the festive season while keeping your teeth clean and your smile bright. Cheers to a happy and healthy holiday season!
